"Reach The Sun" (1991)

EUDOXIS' video "Reach The Sun" was filmed in the summer of 1991 during the "Open Fire" tour. Although some live footage can be seen here, it was mostly filmed in an old, spooky downtown warehouse.   It  not only aired on  MUCH MUSIC and MUSIQUE PLUS but the video was also featured at the L.A. FOUNDATIONS FORUM that year. The song also appeared on the FOUNDATIONS FORUM '91 compilation CD.
"Reach The Sun"  exemplifies the progressive thrash metal that EUDOXIS were all about. It is an introspective tale based on Socrates' "Cave story" and Descartes' idea of "Cogito ergo sum" (I think , therefore I am ). Get your popcorn and velcro yourself on your seat because "Reach The Sun" clocks in at over six minutes and goes from slow and heavy to ballistic breakneck speed metal.
Fun facts: (1) For the acoustic introduction of the video, the band had to wait for the sun to rise after an "all nighter" at the old, spooky warehouse (if the band looks hung over, now you know why) ; (2) The "Metal  Monk" is actually EUDOXIS' lightman Pierre Gendron wearing a cloak and a freshly spray-painted silver construction helmet over his face. He couldn't see where he was going and the paint fumes were causing him to hallucinate. At least EUDOXIS did not harm any animals during the filming of this video.

"Metal Fix" (1985)

This is an earlier version of "Metal Fix" that was released prior to the "Attack From Above" EP (1986). It was filmed in 1985 and featured EUDOXIS' original lineup. Guitarist Mark-Hill Anderson was replaced in 1986 by Ronnie Theriault. WARNING: Don't get too close to the screen or you may receive a nasty gash from the metal spikes on their costumes and that monstrous drumset!!!

EUDOXIS Pledges Alliegiance To Satan??? NOT!

"Eudoxis Pledges Alliegiance To Satan?"

The Canadian thrash veterans EUDOXIS were recently involved in the highly publicized controversy over backward satanic messages. Church groups have accused the band of promoting Satan's worship and have contacted the Vatican for a consultative meeting with Pope Benedict XVI. It is alledged that their song "Progressive Mental Deterioration (Dementia)" from the Open Fire album contains a subliminal "pledge of alliegiance" to Satan when played backwards. The E-SQUAD (a EUDOXIS fan club) dismissed the above as "an unfortunate coincidence". The band has not yet commented on this issue.

THE BACKWARD MESSAGE: "You shall find the judgement black/ You segregate the enemy/ You are the saviour's enemy/ Satan is the saviour's enemy/ You're still the one that obeys/ My kingdom's coming/ Open!/ Ignorance is not for you/ You do all blessed in black..."

THE FORWARD LYRICS : " I'm temporarily free from any unjust tyranny/ I'm awaiting my next breakdown and I know it waits for me/ Dementia is madness, dementia's got me/ Dementia torments me, I just cannot break free..."

You be the judge.

"Eudoxis Singer Responds To Rumours Of Backward Satanic Messages."

I would like to convey to our fans worldwide through the "Fast Metal Pages" website that there were no intentional backward messages on the 1991 CD "Open Fire". As the lyricist of Eudoxis, I can assure you that we never dealt with such subject matter. The song in question is "Progressive Mental Deterioration (Dementia)" and it deals with the painful reality of mental illness. There are more interesting and important topics to write about than Satanism. With this statement, I hope that the spiritually insecure persons who made these accusations can go on with their regular business and the Pope can sleep at night.
